I’m a postdoctoral research fellow in the cardio-metabolic area. My research focus is the role of small non-coding RNA as non-invasive diagnostic biomarkers of metabolic syndrome-associated diseases. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) regulate the physiological function and pathological processes of metabolic disorders, and an altered miRNAs expression profiles can be linked to disease states.Currently, I’m using high-throughput sequencing approaches to profile miRNAs expression levels in serum extracellular vesicles, from patients affected by diabetes mellitus, liver and cardiovascular diseases, for early diagnosis and risk stratification purposes.
