The PhD project is nested in the genomic area and includes both bioinformatics and wet lab activities. The main purpose is to develop new Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) pipelines in different study areas within the TESEO Project. In the first part, I’m involved in the cardio-metabolic area, in the study of non-invasive biomarkers for the diagnosis of metabolic syndrome-associated diseases (diabetes mellitus, liver disease, cardiovascular diseases) using integrated omics analyses. Particularly, I’m involved in the analysis of microRNA (miRNA) expression profiles in serum extracellular vesicles of subjects with cardio-metabolic complications, for early diagnosis and risk stratification.
