Metabolic dysfunction plays a key role in several chronic diseases with a significant effect on health system, including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, metabolic kidney and liver pathologies, cardiovascular diseases. “Omic” approaches may help in the identification of biomarkers to guide prevention, early diagnosis, risk stratification and therapy decisions.
